As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Altenheim, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their comfort and well-being. Your primary responsibility will be to assist residents with daily living activities, promoting their independence while maintaining their dignity. You will work closely with nursing staff to monitor residents’ health and report any changes in their condition. This position requires compassion, patience, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to a supportive and nurturing environment that fosters the physical and emotional health of those in our care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal hygiene, grooming, and bathing.
  • Help residents with mobility and physical activities, including transferring and repositioning.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, and report any significant changes to nursing staff.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, engaging them in conversation and activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents, adhering to infection control protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant in the state.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a long-term care or assisted living facility.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Skills

The required skills for this position include effective communication, which is essential for interacting with residents and their families, as well as collaborating with the healthcare team. Compassion and empathy are vital in providing emotional support to residents, helping them feel valued and understood. Attention to detail is necessary for accurately monitoring vital signs and documenting changes in residents’ conditions. Time management skills will enable you to efficiently assist multiple residents with their daily needs. Preferred skills, such as BLS certification, will enhance your ability to respond to emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.
