What is the CarDon Career Ladder?

The CarDon Career Ladder is a program through which CarDon employees can receive tuition assistance, education and training to earn various certifications and advance their careers in the field of healthcare.

What are the steps in the Nursing Aide Career Path?

Step 1: Hospitality Aide or other non-certified position
Step 2: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) — Raise a minimum of $1.00/hr. or more (Annually $2,000)
Step 3: CPR Certification — Raise of $0.25/hr. (Annually $500)

Step 4: Dementia Certification (CarDon Approved) — Raise of $0.25/hr. (Annually $500)
Step 5: Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) — Raise a minimum of $1.00/hr. or more (Annually $2,000)

What are the steps in the Professional Career Path?

Step 1: QMA/CNA or other non-certified position

Step 2: Licensed Practical Nurse — Raise a minimum of $2.00/hr. or more (Annually $4,000)

Step 3: Wound Care Certification (CarDon Approved) — Raise of $1.50/hr. (Annually $3,000)

Step 4: Registered Nurse — Raise a minimum of $5.00/hr. or more (Annually $10,000) Avg. 40 hours a week $500 monthly bonus

How do I pursue education through the Career Ladder?

CarDon has several opportunities for learning and career growth. There’s the Achieve Your Degree (AYD) program — a statewide collaboration between Ivy Tech campuses and CarDon that offers free or low-cost tuition to employees through tuition reimbursement or financial support. We also offer tuition assistance at other qualifying schools as well as innovative training through CarDon University — an online learning system with more than 800 courses.

How do I become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)?
Once you complete the application and sign the CNA agreement, we can match you to a CNA class in your area or online.

How do I obtain my CPR Certification?

Several of our communities offer CPR training at different times throughout the year. Start the application process, and we will match you to a CPR training in your area.

How do I obtain Dementia Certification?

You can earn Dementia Certification via Relias. Start the application process, and we will load the inservices into your account. Once you have completed all five courses, please reach out to your HR Business Partner in your community so they can print your certification.

How do I obtain Qualified Medication Assistant (QMA) Certification?
Once you complete the application process and sign the QMA agreement, we can match you to a QMA class in your area. If you know what school you would like to attend and have already applied to that school, please provide us with that information.

How do I obtain Wound Certification?
You must be an LPN or RN. CarDon has approved the Wound Care Certification through Riverview Hospital. Start the application process with the Clinical Specialist approval, and we will sign you up for the next class.
